A Native Home for a Three-Generational Family

This residence is conceived as a modern reinterpretation of a native family home—one that honours tradition while embracing contemporary living. Designed for a three-generational family, the architecture reflects a deep sense of belonging, cultural continuity, and effortless comfort.

Responding to Rajasthan’s harsh climatic conditions, the home is planned with a strong climate-conscious design strategy. A central skylight becomes the soul of the house, bringing in abundant natural light while enabling passive ventilation and active cooling. The spatial volumes and openings are carefully oriented to reduce heat gain, ensuring that the interiors remain naturally cool throughout the year.

Every detail, from the tactile materials to the crafted finishes, is envisioned as a balanced blend of classic and modern design philosophies. Earthy tones dominate the palette, grounding the home in its desert context while creating a warm, contemporary atmosphere indoors and out.

The flooring features traditional Kota stone, chosen for its inherent cooling properties, enhanced with delicate brass inlays that lend a subtle heritage character. The façade proudly incorporates reclaimed wooden columns—each with its own story—adding depth, nostalgia, and a sense of timelessness to the architecture.

The result is a residence that feels both rooted and renewed: a harmonious fusion of modern sensibilities and traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship, created to nurture the past, present, and future of a family living together under one home.
