Project: Architecture – Residence
Area: 2817 sq.ft
Location: Ahmedabad

Samaya

This residential retreat in Ahmedabad is envisioned as a peaceful second home for a family seeking balance, comfort, and connection with its surroundings. The design follows a minimalist sensibility, where clarity of form, understated materials, and a muted palette come together to create a calming environment. Spaces are composed with intention simple, open, and quietly elegant allowing everyday routines to unfold with ease.

Responding sensitively to Ahmedabad’s hot, dry climate, the architecture is guided by passive design principles that minimize energy use while enhancing comfort. Thoughtful orientation, deep overhangs, and well-placed openings help reduce heat gain, while cross-ventilation and shaded outdoor areas encourage natural airflow throughout the day.

Courtyards and transitional zones bring in light and greenery, creating moments of pause and softening the boundaries between inside and out. Material choices emphasize durability, local relevance, and environmental responsibility. Natural textures and earthy tones ground the home in its regional context while maintaining the minimalist character.

Overall, the project embodies a balance of simplicity, climate awareness, and timeless design offering the family a serene escape that feels both grounded and uplifting, shaped by purpose and an enduring connection to its environment.
